Our Committment to Non-Violence

Our Committment to Non-Violence

The 50501 Orange County chapter is a peaceful movement dedicated to positive change through nonviolent action. We reject any form of violence, threats of violence, or the suggestion of using weapons in connection with our movement.

Weapons are not permitted at any of our events. Our mission is rooted in peaceful advocacy. We expect all of our supporters to conduct themselves responsibly at our events, and disavow anything advocating for disruption or violence.

We urge everyone to remain peaceful and respect the principles of nonviolent action. 50501 stands for justice, progress, and change for the people—peacefully. Let’s keep it that way.

  • "Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon. It is a weapon unique in history, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it."
    — Martin Luther King Jr.

  • "Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him."
    — Martin Luther King Jr.

  • "An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind."
    — Mahatma Gandhi

  • "What does labor want? We want more schoolhouses and less jails; more books and less arsenals; more learning and less vice; more leisure and less greed; more justice and less revenge."
    — Samuel Gompers

  • "The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."
    — Alice Walker

  • "Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will."
    — Frederick Douglass

  • "If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground."
    — Frederick Douglass

Let us honor these principles and the shared vision of peaceful progress.
