Interdependence Day Recap: Pop-up Protest and Food Drive

The fourth of July was celebrated with an outpouring of generosity by 700800 patriotic SoCal residents who donated food and essentials for distribution to areas currently impacted by ICE raids. Delivery to neighbors in need will be coordinated by local mutual aid organizations including the Delhi Neighborhood in Santa Ana, OC Labor Federation in Orange, and neighbors in Garden Grove. This powerful community gathered on a holiday not just to protest the shameful passage of the Disastrous Budget Bill, but also to take action to support immigrant neighbors who are doing what they can to stay safe. The photo below shows the overflow remaining after the three vans we planned on were completely filled! In all it took 1520 carloads to transport everything that was donated. Thank you to everyone who came out and showed the true meaning of Interdependence Day. #iceoutofoc

There's an ongoing, urgent action in Orange County to print ONE MILLION Red Cards that empower the holder to know what to do when they see ICE threatening the safety of our cities. These will be printed in a variety of languages and distributed by a coalition of grassroots groups. Check out the donation form if you can help with fundraising for this effort, or if you'd like to read what the cards say. They have been revised and improved recently with information about OC Rapid Response Network and Immigrant Defenders Law Center.
